How I did it: me and a friend stayed at her dads house in new orleans during mardi gras. that was my first real party experience there. soooo not cute during mardi gras.
Lessons & tips: -mardi gras on bourbon is WAY crowded and obnoxious
-dont place any 'bets' or do anything with sketchy people on the street, they will trick you out of your money
