How to walk for a cause
How I did it: I signed up for two walks for causes close to my heart.
The first walk was the Luekemia and Lymphoma 2k Light the Night Walk in memory of my mom. The Light the Night Walks are evening walks were walkers carry illuminated ballons to show support for those who have lost there life to cancer, those that are cancer survivors, and those that are supporting the cause. 15 of my good friends joined the walk and we raised over $1800 dollars. This was such a great experienced and we have vowed to do the walk every year.
The second walk was the AIDS 5k walk that I participated in one week after the LLS 2k. I walked with about 10 co-workers. This walk was more challenging than the 2k walk due to the long distance the the HILLS! It still was a great experience.
Lessons & tips: Pick a cause, sign up, and show up.
