How I did it: I've done it three times now, last one was a few weeks ago.  Every 2 years I cut off 11 inches (my lucky number) although this time I distracted my mother and it was actually 12 inches on one side and 11 on the other.  Ooops.  I love getting it cut off, so much so I find it hard now to wait until it's long enough because I have so much fun with it short plus I get so much joy out of knowing someone will benefit from me just living my life and nothing more.

Lessons & tips: Do it because you want to not because you feel obligated.  You won't enjoy the good you're doing if you're so worried about how short your hair is.  I know for me I'm always ready to cut it early summer once it's starts to get warm but it's never long enough so maybe aim for that time of year so you benefit as well!
