How I did it: partly backpacking on my own, partly with friends,  hostels, renting an apartment.  i found a good deal through Iberia airlines stopping in Madrid on the way from NYC.   i took the bus to the Costa Brava too

Lessons & tips: go to everything Gaudi,  go to the beach- it's incredible, wander around El Born,  get lost, visit the markets in Barceloneta,  eat as many croissants as humanly possible, see the Chocolate Museum
