How to learn massage therapy
How I did it: I decided to do a course which was being run locally. I had to pay to do it
I was given a uniform and learning materials which were all about safety of client, therapist and materials, ie essential oils.
I joined the class and we were given tutorials and watched lecturers use massage techniques on other class mates.
We gradually began to practice and learn massage movements and techniques and to carry out consultations with family and friends.
We leaned a little about business issues.
After a year we had an exam and gained accreditation.
We had to have public liability insurance to work on members of the public and had tpo become members of a professional guild of complementary therapists.
Lessons & tips: Find a reputable course, local college may run one.
Study and practice massage regularly.
Try to learn about the business side and perhaps do free or reduced price massages at local groups or salons at first. Try to get a relatively LIGHT massage table if you are going to be mobile.
Resources: Good priced reputable oils supplier online - some are rubbish, trial and error or word of mouth.
