How I did it: I have been wanting a pet for a couple of years now. I used to have a cat, but wasn't allowed to bring her to my current residence. I'm not supposed to have pets at all here, but I had finally had enough. I decided that I wanted a rabbit, but was not sure of the breed. I did lots of research online and discovered flemish giants. Their laid back nature appealed to me, since I have a now 3 year-old son. I looked on craig's list and found a breeder that was about an hour from my house. She referred me to a breeder who was closer. We went and picked out our bunny and brought him home. I loved that little guy. Unfortunately he died unexpectedly a week later. Rabbits have very sensitive digestive tracks. I hadn't put too much concern into the fact that he had soft stools.  I contacted the owner and he gave me another one free of charge. The second bunny also started suffering from loose stools, but I contacted the breeder and he instructed me to give my new bunny Kaeopectate (He loved that stuff, I didn't have to force it down!) He is now almost six months old. I love my bunny. He is spunky and funny. We are working on potty training.

Lessons & tips: Joe Kona (my black flemish giant) is a little more sassy than some of his flemish giant counterparts. I knew it when I picked him out because he wasn't near as laid back as his dearly departed brother. Keep in mind that each bunny has their own personality. I'm considering having him neutured to adjust his attitude! Hope not, but I will if I have to if he doesn't learn not to bite.

Males tend to be more docile than females, but it also depends on the individual.

Find a feed that doesn't have corn in it, because corn is hard for young bunnies to process.

Don't give them treats until they are older.

Have your new pet's hutch ready before you pick him up. Flemish giants require larger cages than average rabbits. My flemmy's cage is too small, but we've made him a run.

Do lots of research before you decide on any particular breed.

Ask your breeder lots and lots of questions!!!!!!
