How to whiten my teeth
How I did it: My teeth weren't super gross looking, but you could tell in pictures they were a little dingy. I tried the Arm and Hammer whitening booster ages ago. It had mixed reviews, but it was cheap so I tried it anyway. I kept a photographic record and diary to give my impressions and everything. I didn't see much of a change, but it wasn't so big of a deal.
I'm now using the 14 day Crest White Strips Classic, as I can't bring myself to spend 40 dollars getting the ultra fast acting variety, and although it is a concern of mine, I'm really not in a rush to get it done. I'm not even completely through all of them, but I can tell there is difference. I've had other people tell me this also.
I'll probably use what's left of that A&H booster stuff to maintain my whitening.
Lessons & tips: Keep an eye out for coupons in the Sunday paper or any fliers delivered to your houses! I had one that was $5 off, and there was also a $10 off one of the more expensive versions. I know CVS also carries their own version if you wanted to try those also. ALWAYS keep the UPC and the receipt, so if it doesn't work for you, you can try to get a refund (minus tax).
The first day I got them, as suggested on the box I did two sets of strips one right after the other. It made my teeth kind of sensitive so I took it easy for the next day. Don't feel like you have to rush this process! There's no reason to make your teeth feel miserable just to make them whiter. The feeling is as though cold air is passing through your teeth, like they're made of tissue. It's a feeling that can last a couple hours at most.
Sometimes I do one set, sometimes I do two 8 to 12 hours apart. So that's:
-On my way to work, and
-After I come home from work and get a bite to eat (make sure to brush before whitening)
I always brush or wash the gel off, but that's up to your particular tooth sensitivity and so forth.
