How to lose 10% of my body weight
How I did it: I started out by logging all of my food on a nutrition site called NutriMirror - it's free, and as long as you are thorough with logging it gives a very accurate picture of where you are getting your nutrition. It made it much easier for me to monitor my calorie intake, and also gave me a great picture of where my diet was lacking. Now I know exactly how much protein, fat, carbs, iron, fiber, calcium, sodium etc (I could go on and on!) I'm getting on a daily basis. I'm eating much more healthily than I ever have before thanks to using this tool.
Lessons & tips: Don't give up! The most important thing to remember is that this is a long-term change, and a quick-fix 'diet' isn't going to do it. You may lose some weight at first, but it will all come back if you don't make a lifestyle out of it. If you slip up, forgive yourself and get right back on the wagon - DON'T beat yourself up over it, and don't have an attitude of 'oh well, I blew it, I may as well give up'. You're the only one who can make this change for yourself.
