How to write a decent screenplay
"With friends, it's so much fun!"
How I did it: Well, basically a few friends and me got together, asked around what software you use for this (we used Final Draft) and started brainstorming ideas. We stuck with the idea of write what you know, so we wrote the first few episodes of a web series loosely based about our experiences. It was a great - hanging out with friends, laughing so hard I cried - I want to keep doing this because it's so fun!! The 2 years part was just getting together and gaining courage to say, "Hey, wanna write something?" without thinking I sounded like an idiot.
Lessons & tips:
- Get together with friends, it's easier to get over blocks with more than one brain working
- Get a good screenwriting software - it will save you so much time with formatting!
- Watch movies and read scripts to see how they look and how stories are laid out
- Attend workshops and conferences - you can learn a lot from these, as well as the internet and books on the subject
Resources:
- workshops, conferences
- the internet
- my local library
