How to buy a gun
How I did it: I took two classes that covered everything from firearms safety to the legalities of carrying, which included hands-on training and a proficiency test. I applied for a Permit to Carry, waited about a month, and that permit also served as a permit to purchase. From the classes, I knew exactly what handgun I felt would be best, and then I went to the store and range, chose a gun, shot a few rounds through it and bought it. There was a quick background check and $600 later I walked out with a Springfield XD-9(mm) subcompact. I later purchased a Glock 36 .45mm, too.

Resources: The Twin Cities Carry forum and Bill's Gun Shop and Range helped me in Minneapolis. But any web and retail resources will help you.
