How to buy Insurance
How I did it: An insurance agent found me. I bounced back and forth through a number of insurance agents. I setlled on the one that made me most comfortable and secure and also checked with my parents. I then had to sign a few documents and ensure that I would have enough money for the premiums. Since I was briefly hospitalised, I also had to get papers from this hospital to prove that I was okay. It was getting to me and was a little troublesome, but it's worth the trouble!
I wish I had done it earlier!
Lessons & tips: - Do your groundwork and make sure you know the different insurance companies and the difference between their products.
- Survey informally the reputation of the companies. Do you have friends/relatives with bad experiences or little or no payouts? Why?
- Always read the fine print! Yes, read through every single one and read especially the exclusions. So you'll know what you will or will not be covered for.
