How I did it: I guess I just grew up and realized "Hey... why am I not having as much fun as the others? Why should I fit in their mold? Screw it... I'm being myself now!"

Lessons & tips: #1- Imagine the worst-case-scenario- For example, getting an outrageous new haircut. People might stare and maybe even yell something. But does it really matter? You probably won't see them again, and the w.c.s. probably won't happen.

#2- When talking with other people, focus on THEM- Don't ask leading questions just so you can share a great story or joke. Instead, try to focus on them, what they think, feel, etc.

#3- Make a list of your best qualities - Forget all about modesty, and write down at least 20 things you love about yourself. Even if you think you're utter garbage :)

#4- Stop caring about what others think - Yeah, this is a tough one, but as Mr.Chris Guillebeau said "You don't have to live your life the way others expect you to". It's your life, not theirs.

#5- Don't restrict yourself to molds/stereotypes - For example, don't be an emo kid, because chances are you also have many qualities of a prep, as well as a nerd :P. People are not something that can be easily labeled.
