How I did it: I learned to read music at 6, and excelled at cold reading sheet music. Practiced an average of 20 minutes a day, up until the 2 weeks before where i had rehearsals 2 hours a day 2 times each week.
Lessons & tips: Start slow and focus on phrasing, add intonation, then work up to tempo.
Resources: Had a recording of the arrangement on piano, which made it easier to memorize
