How to move to San Diego by Christina

"I took a chance, sold everything in DC, found a new job and moved to the place where I have always wanted to create a life. Absolutely worth it!!!"

How I did it:

  1. Got serious about how much I wanted to move to San Diego
  2. Researched areas of San Diego to live 
  3. Researched the best companies to work at 
  4. Spoke with friends and families about local connections 
  5. Quit my job 
  6. Sold my furniture in DC since it was more expensive to ship than replace 
  7. Found someone to take over my lease in DC 
  8. Setup a PO box to ship my belongings since I didn't yet have an apartment 
  9. Narrowed down my apartment search to 3 places 
  10. Shipped everything 
  11. Drove to San Diego 
  12. Chose my apartment 
  13. Found a job through a recruiter (2 months - tough market Apr/May 2008)  

Lessons & tips: Stop making excuses and go for what you really want! You can't plan everything and there will be many challenges... but in the end, everything falls into place.
