How to become a journalist
It made me
full of purpose

How I did it:
First, I applied for a part time job at a local radio station while I was in college, got it, and worked the horrible shifts (weekends and holidays). I then applied for a full time news reporter job at a radio station across the country (you know, for fun)... and got it!
I decided to accept the job, packed one suitcase and headed 4500 kms away from home.
I'm loving every minute of it!
Basically, I graduated early from college because I got a full time job in my field.

Lessons & tips: When in college, never slack off. If you do, make your last year count and work your butt off! Build your portfolio with everything, submit all of your work to newspapers / tv stations / radio stations. Volunteer at any local news outlets if you cannot get a paying job right off the bat. NETWORK! You will go so far with contacts.
