How to live half my life in Colorado
How I did it: I spent a couple of years taking vacations out here, looking for a job. Couldn't find anything that way. So I took the plunge and quit my job and lived with a cousin of a friend while my (ex)wife stayed in Indiana. I went through an employment service and paid their exorbitant fee so I could get a job fairly quickly. My (ex)wife moved out here after I got a job. And despite some opportunities and a few times I was tempted to move back, I've stayed here for 25 years now.
Lessons & tips: If you don't already have a job here, this is much easier to do if you're young and have minimal commitments ;)
Resources: I didn't know a single person in the state, but it sure helped to have a relative of a friend to stay with for a few weeks!
