How I did it: I made a concrete list and kit for survival in the event of an earthquake or other disaster. I talked to my children about such an event. I made tangible preparations for such an event.

Resources: Since I had no idea where to begin, I really relied on the lists posted by Crazyinagoodway and cia007and other suggestions especially by buttercupsometimes and IWABMY.

Similar goal

I completed this one, Review our family emergency plan a while ago.

Since that time, both my husband and I are in different work places, so we should probably have another discussion of exactly what we’re doing if The Big One hits while we’re at work, and the kids are at school or at home.

Reminds me that I need to review those plans with my kids. We’ve had a couple of small quakes in the past few weeks.

My first thought

was couldn’t you have used paper for the list instead of concrete? It’s easier to write on (a pencil) instead of chiseling the list into concrete; paper is portable, flexible, and erasable.

Seriously, it’s great you took the time to do it. Few folks actually make the kit.
