How to not procrastinate
How I did it: I have wasted too much potentially-useful time thinking about what I need to get done and not bothering to do it. I would literally sit on my bed for an hour and a half and refresh my MySpace while thinking to myself, "Kenzlie, that six-page essay is due in a few days. You had two weeks to do it. Should you start? ... NO." Then, I would probably play Neopets for another two hours or decide to go out with friends instead. This never reflected upon my grades though. But I was also ALWAYS stressed out about school. I was never a lazy student; I rather took the title of "Perfect Procrastinator." Yes, there is such a thing. The times I attempted to start on my work early, I could not think of anything to write or any answers to questions. When forcing myself to do the homework despite my mental blockage, I did crappy work. On the flipside, whenever I waited until the last minute to do my work, I made very high grades and could think quickly about everything I wanted to write-- no lists needed. I decided that always working under pressure was stressing me to the max, so I took baby steps to learn to start early and work at a normal pace. Eventually, I could write or concentrate just as good either way-- under pressure or not.
Lessons & tips: You have to have determination and a drive to actually stop procrastinating if you have a problem with it. Divide work up by lists and check them off as you go instead of cramming everything into one night. You will be a lot happier and feel more knowledgeable in school.
