How I did it: I have worked at the same job for about three years now, and they were finally able to have me on full time.  It is funny because I applied for the position, they told me they weren't hiring anyone...but a week later they hired me.  A couple days after this, I got the (after the fact) letter saying that I didn't get the job because they had already sent it out. It was very confusing...but the wait was worth the feeling of security knowing that I have insurance, benefits, and a regular paycheck.
