"Difficult, challenging and oddly restorative."
How I did it: Wrote in the mornings before work at diners. Stopped at Panera Bread to write on the way home some nights. Did marathons at Starbucks or at home on the weekends that racked up a lot of words. Didn't get discouraged when I was way behind (well, there was that one day...)
This was so worth doing. Really restored my faith in writing. It is necessary to my happiness, whether I publish or not.
Lessons & tips: Use the 15, 30 and 45 minute Word Wars online if you can. It's much easier to focus on pounding out as much as you can in a short amount of time rather than to sit there wondering what to do with the time you have allotted. If you don't have a connection where you are, have a word war with yourself!
