"I learned the secret!"
How I did it: For years I went on doubting myself and my social abilities, which caused me to hide in myself. Then I got sick and freaking tired of feeling like I'm missing out on meeting new friends, having new experiences, and opening myself to new opportunities. And so I forced myself into more social situations. Yes, I was uncomfortable as HELL and was tempted to back out - which I did, several times. And then I read the book called The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne. It changed my entire perspective. One of the best secrets I learned from that book was that "everything that's coming into your life you are attracting into your life....Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you."
I thought about it and it turned out to be one of the most truthful things I've ever heard in my life. As much as I've hated being shy, my mind was consumed with thoughts of how socially awkward I was and how I had no social skills - and that's exactly how I became! So I started thinking about how fun, interesting, and exciting I am - and how I REALLY wanted to bring this change into my life, and so far I've been making it happen. I've spoken to at least 10 more people and hung out with 4 new people within the past week since I've finished the book. I feel great!
Lessons & tips: Go read The Secret with an open mind and a strong desire for change. If you want it bad enough, you have the power to make it happen! It is truly a life-changing book.
