How I did it: I started by booking the learners course. I was the only girl and the only unexperienced rider and it was quite difficult to master the basics without much practice. I had to repeat day 2, but getting my L's was fabulous. I bought a bike from a friend of a friend and practiced in my local area, feeling like a bit of a dork but practice helped me get over my fear and improve confidence, and i became less dorky. surprisingly soon i was on the highway looking for more of a challenge.

Lessons & tips: sometimes we "wish" we could do something, when all we need to do is go out and do it. i found the experience has made me a more motorcycle-aware car driver, it helped me remember what it was like learning to drive - humbling and i'm more empathic to learners now, it connected me with some unexpected people in unexpected ways, i feel proud of having achieved a small goal & more capable of achieving others.
