How I did it: booked go karting for himself and pals, organised family meal, booked short trip on QM2 for next year. Used skills in photoshop etc to lay up mock tickets with Cunard colours, logo & pics of exterior and interior of QM2 and added a birthday greeting to it, along with cabin details and dates. Booked go Karting - should have cost £270 but used Tesco Clubcard vouchers as deals and saved £180 off the price !! Booked family meal in local restaurant for day after birthday.
Lessons & tips: Don't book big family meal day after Halloween. Everybody was partied out and tired : (
