How I did it: Booked short trip. Played up entire visit of ship to hometoswn recently. Went with him to watch ship arrive and to various vantage points for him to photograph it. Bought tickets for boat trip to accompany the liner when it left port. Kept up dialogue about it for entire time until presented him his 'tickets'.
