How I did it: Ever since I graduated from college, I had the goal of being debt free.  I bought a car and paid it off.  Then I bought a house and paid it off.  I finally paid off my student loans.  I just put any extra money to the bills and I kept my expenses low.

Lessons & tips: Live way below your means if you can.  When in college, I had a one room studio which had a futon on the floor and a wardrobe.  The room was small and it was in a basement, but I wasn't there much anyway.  It was the size of a normal bedroom and had a small kitchen and bathroom with a shower.  I learned how to live in small places.  Now I live in a small house even though I make way more than I did in college.

Resources: I listened to Clark Howard whenever I could.  He may be a bit eccentric, but he gives really good advice.  I'm starting a website called www.slaythesacredcow.com.  I want to help other people determine what is really important to them and pursue those things.  You may determine that the extras in life aren't as important as living life.  Afterall who, with any amount of money, can increase one second of his or her life?  We dictate how much our life is worth by how much someone pays us to do a job, should we not be as critical when it comes to departing with our life-earned money!
