How to sleep under the stars
"beautiful and thrilling"
How I did it: For the first week before my freshman year of college, a bunch of us went to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota. Once we got up past Ely, we spent the night at our group leader's cabin. A couple of us, including my roommate, my poly sci professor, a couple guys, and me, slept out on his porch under the stars. It was so dark out up there that it felt you could look into the sky for years and never see all the stars that were there to see. We were a little nervous about mosquitoes and bears, but the bugs weren't out when we went to bed, and the only bear we encountered was just a ruffling of leaves and branches in the woods that set our leader's dog barking in the morning.
It was amazing
