How to get a Mom tattoo

Comments:

Ayleesha Looking forward to preparing for Compostelle or Machu Picchu!

:)

That’s so awesome of you! :)

These are the best tattoos if you ask me!

I won a 100$ gift certificate for this tattoo parlour near where I live, because of my Halloween costume. I haven’t used it yet and at first I thought I was never gonna use it (I’m not big on tattoos). But then I thought I could get a tattoo in memory of my dad, who passed away of Leukemia, last year, Sunday, October 26, 2008.

My tattoo would be something like:

A heart with a banner, with DAD (1946-2008), on top it would say “In memory”, underneath: I love you. And he LOVED LOVED LOVED bowling, so I thought of putting a bowling pin on each side.

What to you think?

I would for sure make it as personal as you can. When I first told everyone I wanted to get a mom tattoo… everyone was kinda iffy about it because sometimes it can be a little cliche’. My mom and I both love flowers but again, I feel dumb being a girl getting a flower tattoo… just kinda I don’t know how to explain it.
But I made sure I added my own things to it, and hers too of course. I think my mom is beautiful (obviously) so I wanted to make sure the banner that I got was delicate looking, very PRETTY. So it’s a nice shade of blue and it is actually RIBBON if you look at it. It’s like lace. And when it’s done, it’s going to have her two favorite flowers: sunflowers and roses.
My mom’s name is Sandra and her name means “helper and defender of mankind” which is exactly what my mom is. She’s a super hero.

Try not to stick to normal things, you know?
You know when your dad was born and when he died, and you know that you love him… you don’t neccessarily need to make that part of the tattoo, you know?
Just… what I told myself when I was thinking of this tattoo was…
“When I think about my mom… What do I see?... What is my mom in a picture?”
I asked myself that like… EVERY DAY. Even up until like… an hour before I was getting the tattoo. Just to make sure I had it figured out.
Definitely put thought into it… But not too much. It just has to be that FIRST thing that you think of. Just… “Dad”... “My Dad”... “My Daddy”... =)

And I’m very sorry to hear about your loss.
My dad passed away when I was a year and a half old. In a way, I’m lucky that I didn’t have to go through that when I got older.
And I am all for you getting something to remember him by. =)

LoriJay has gotten 1 cheer on this entry.
