How I did it: I wrote this on my 43 things years ago.  I'm currently attending college to be a vet tech.  Technically I HAD to volunteer, but I got more than development hours out of it.  I intend to do more hours that don't have to do.  This was hard work, let me tell you!  I've also convinced my vet tech student club to donate to the particular shelter I volunteered at.

Lessons & tips: Just call a place that you are interested in and see if they take volunteers!
