How to start from scratch
"New town, new job, new place, new people"
How I did it: I've done this several times. Changed job to a completely new town hundreds of miles away, with no idea where I've moved to and no friends or family links to the new area. Moving house can be seen as a stressful time, or an opportunity to shed dead wood and reshape your living environment. Socially it can be seen in the same way -- but a little bit of effort and enthusiasm leads to a whole new life.
Lessons & tips: Have a car with a big boot. Be fearless. Decide whether you either have it or need it -- and if it's not the second of the two, get rid of it. Maintain contacts in the place you used to live -- it's always good to be back home again.
