"Thrilled."
How I did it: It's one of the most frequently asked questions if people want to learn more about me. I always used to answer purple or violet because I thought of it as a royal and special colour. When I really thought about the matter, I discovered that I loved lots of colours and I badly wanted to know which of them I liked the best. And I wanted to be extremely specific about this.
I used to go through brochures of colours used in interior designing or any sort of designing involving colours (later). I pondered on myriads of shades of yellow, blue, red, brown, green and finally violet again. But none of that helped. Eventually, I gave up. In a manner of speaking. Whenever I encountered a colour that was 'interesting' or 'eye-catching', it would make me wonder if it won't feel good as a favourite colour. But that's not right way to go about it.
I don't know how long I had 'given up' (but never marked that as a result here). I was watching Tales from EarthSea and maybe it was just by association but I remembered a 'perfect' colour. The colour that made me happy. Peaceful. And well, it didn't have a name (at least none that I know).
It's the golden blue of calm ocean when the sun shines down on it at noon - the part of ocean that is nearer to you... not the part that's far away (that's practically white, anyway). I don't even know if 'golden blue' counts as a colour but if not, well, it gives me a chance to name my favourite colour! :)
In any case, I would rather not have mentioned the duration that it required to discover this. I'm not sure what's the answer. None of the work I put in actually mattered. I wasn't thinking 'what's my favourite colour' while watching the movie, really. I just looked at the shimmering ocean and remembered a similar real life scene and the next thing I thought was - what a perfect colour!
And I knew I'd found it~
Lessons & tips: Don't try to 'choose' a colour. I think it will come to you when it wants to. Moreover, I'm sure that even if I were to lose my memory and rebuild them, I'd realise 'golden blue' all over again. You can't have that if you 'choose' to like a colour. And causes unnatural pressure - at least it did that to me.
