How to sleep enough
How I did it: I was working evening shift in the hospital, than went to nights for more money, and than started bouncing shifts. I felt like I was never getting enough sleep! (Although some days I slept way more than I should). Eventually, I went to Days and stuck with days, but could still not sleep. I started using over the counter (OTC) medications to assist in me sleeping during the night, which worked. . . only if I continued to take OTC! I was finally able to start getting used to sleeping enough and at night by weaning myself off the OTC meds, caffeine, exercising, and learning how to destres.
Lessons & tips:
- Do not try to do this with OTC PM medications!
- Sleep in a dark, quiet room.
- Lessen, and if possible remove all caffeine.
- Exercising during the day will amazingly help with this goal.
- Try to avoid rotating shifts too frequently.
- Set a sleep schedule and try to stick with it more often than not.
