How to save one dollar a day for the next year!
How I did it: Firstly, I went and bought a piggy bank. In my case, it's a teddy head bank. You can refer to one of my entries about this goal for a photo on how my teddy head bank looks like.
Secondly, I placed in 2 dollars into my teddy head bank. I began placing 2 dollars instead of a dollar just to make me feel motivated about the whole goal.
Thirdly, I kept slotting in 2 dollars from that day onward. I rationalized that a dollar a day is too little to save enough for the next year. Therefore, 2 dollars a day it is!
Lessons & tips: To get you motivated into the whole idea of this goal, I suggest you buy a pretty piggy bank of the sort. Then from there, you just basically put in a dollar for the day. Just don't forget to stick to the routine of slotting in a dollar a day.
Owh ya, I was not completely active during the duration of completing this goal. For 3 months I was out of the country and for the consecutive 2 months, I did not bother to save up 2 dollars. So, if calculated, I could have saved at least 570 bucks if I had continued the habit. =(
So my other tip to you is to bring your little piggy/teddy head bank everywhere you go. Or if not, just save 1 or 2 dollars a day somewhere, and later when you come back from your trip, you can slot in the amount you have saved!
