How I did it: Found contact information on peoplefinders.com. Actually provided perfectly accurate information which helped me also locate other family members from my paternal side.
Lessons & tips: Just be really ready, and don't rush yourself. It took me 27 years to feel strong enough to do it. Prepare yourself for every kind of possible scenario, but also realize that you won't really be able to predict everything. Also, if you can, reach out to an extended family member first. Sometimes it's easier to talk to a more neutral party first, and see if they can answer questions for you.

My biological father has never had a role in my life, but I am blessed with two dads. My mother had me young and when I was nine months she began dating a guy. They were together until I was 5, and he is my dad. He stepped in and took the role, even after they split up. He walked me down the isle at my wedding, and is one of the best men in the entire world. My mom married my step dad when I was nine. I was again blessed with a great man in my life. He has been there for me from day one, and always will be. So in the absence of an idiot. I gained the love of two dads, so for that i am and will always will be grateful. I have tried to have a relationship with my biological father, but he really never shows interest. It doesn’t matter either way to him, he will never put the effort in. I have forgiven him for his absence, he takes very good care of his children now…and that makes me happy. I just wish he would realize what he is missing.
