How to get a Christmas Job
"Really worthwhile. I have made friends, feel a sense of pride in what I do, earn money, and have become part of the community. "
How I did it: I walked to my local high street and went in to the different retail shops and restaurants, asking if they had any vacancies over Christmas. If they said yes I handed them an up to date CV with the dates I was available on. I got three yes's. A week later, a clothing shop called me back and it all set off from there!
Lessons & tips: Make an up-to-date CV.
Try every shop that you can that your skill level is suitable for, EVEN if you think you won't like it. - I handed my CV in to a clothing shop, and thought the people who worked their looked pretensious and scary and working in retail would drive me mad with bordem. I couldn't have been more wrong. I am still gettng the hang of talking to customers about choosing outfits, but the people I work with are actually lovely and I have made some good friends.
