"Happened so fast... Just amazing!"
How I did it: I'd been saving money but only had about $8,000 in the bank. Had gone to a seminar for first time buyers the previous year. Got a realtors' magazine in the mail which told of the $8,000 credit possibly available for first-time buyers. Inspired me to sit down with a loan officer and see what was feasible. Through Department of Ag and Rural Development(?) and a KY Housing Loan, I was able to buy with just a few hundred dollars down-- incredible!
With my mom's help, I found a place within a week, put in a lowish bid, it was accepted without any counter bid. It did take a while for the loan paperwork to get processed which was frustrating, but from the time I sat down with the loan officer until I moved my first stuff into the house = 52 days!!!
Of course, I now have boxes to unpack and stuff, stuff, and more stuff to find places for. However, I'm single living in a 3BD, 2BA house with an actual front and back yard. (No neighbors on either side for the moment but sweet neighbors across the street. Their Jack Russell terrier named Tinkerbell comes to visit me often-- it's all the fun parts of having a pet with none of the work.)
All in all, I'm a happy camper!!!
