How to watch 50 movies I've never seen before in 2008

How I did it: I'm into knitting in a big way now. I prefer to re-watch movies I've already seen so I can multi-task with my knitting and still keep up with the movie's plot. However, I did find some good movies and expand my collection as a result of this goal. It did take me longer than a year to get to 50 new movies though.
Also, I find that I'm seldom interested in new releases. When people rave about a movie, it usually turns me off. I'd rather "discover" a movie on my own than accept recommendations. That's kind of stubborn and perverse I guess, but I think it makes me feel clever or something when I find a great one on my own. Besides, I generally like older movies anyway instead of a lot of the trashy and violent stuff so generally popular. (IMO: Red Box = yuk)
One exception: I did just watch Julie & Julia and loved it.
