How to make fish ball soup
How I did it: Looked up recipes for fish ball soup on the Internet and noticed it was simple but easily customizable, so I bought some fish stock concentrate (Better Than Bouillon brand), threw it into 4-5 cups of boiling water in a pot, threw in the frozen fish balls, diced tofu, some halved garlic cloves, a bit of salt, some five-spice powder, a little bit of ginger powder, and simmered with the lid on until the fish balls had swelled up, then added chopped bok choy and kale. Simmered (with lid on) until greens turned bright green, then added chopped scallions, put lid back on, waited another minute or so, and voila!
Lessons & tips: Everything is to taste. Add more or less salt, more or less stock concentrate, more or less green stuff, etc. You could add mushrooms, turnips, carrots — whatever you like. It's soup. Soup is easy.
