How to never apologize for being me by Gypsy

"I'm finally happy with myself, so now I realise that if others aren't happy - it's not always MY fault!"

How I did it: I've spent pretty much my whole life either apologising for being too tall, too fat and too awkward or too smart, too studious and too talented. That first part was easy to decipher and deal with - as I've gotten older and more comfortable in my own skin, it's easier to see that if others really DO have a problem with the way I look, it's THEIR issue, not necessarily mine. The second part, however, has taken a bit longer!

I'm generally good at things. I was a good student, I'm fairly intelligent and I pick up things really quickly - learning new skills has always been easy for me... and I spent my whole life apologising for that - in fact, my struggle with weight has partly come out of this deeper need to 'fit in'. I guess I figure that people will 'put up' with me being smart if I'm fat... in my mind, I thought that others would NEVER like me if I was smart, nice AND attractive!!

So, the how I did it bit... basically, I concentrated on not apologising to MYSELF constantly and taught myself to value both my inner beauty and my intelligence. The best advice I can give is to surround yourself with people who love you and can see what a fabulous person you are, they constantly remind you of your worth.

...... I guess I am on that road too. I have found that both my soul card and my personality card in The Tarot are The Lovers- all about self-love, my journey to love and accept myself.
