How to make an inspiration board
How I did it: It wasn't easy to begin creating an inspiration board. What I did first was get a board and cut out meaningful phrases and pictures. That part was easy. It was the assembling and pasting of cut-outs that made the whole process of making an inspiration board slow. I felt stuck and lost. So what I did to make myself get out of that rut, I just started to randomly draw on my board. I drew myself on it and wrote topics i actually like such as, traveling, cooking, sociology, and so on. Then I later pasted a sketch I made 3 years ago of a girl riding a 'vespa' on a long windy road. I one day later want to be riding a 'vespa' in some foreign country where I will eventually migrate to. Hehe. I later took the initiative to color it (finally!) to make my inspiration board look a little alive with some splash of rainbow. Haha!
Only after that, I decided to categorize the cut-outs I had in terms of theme and place them strategically on the board (to make room for future cut-outs). I have placed most of my cut-outs now and I must say I am very pleased with the outcome of it. It just makes me happy to look at my board. I could say that I have completed my board, but I don't think these sort of things are ever truly completed. As time goes by, I will most probably keep adding things, which I may find inspiring or important. So, I will still continue to "make" my inspiration board.
Lessons & tips: 1) Decide first what you really want on your board. Think of what the main purpose of a inspiration board is to you. Only from there, you roughly know what you want on your board.
2) Get a board.
2) Get mags, newspapers, or any other medium to cut out inspirational or important things that represents you, your goals, and so on.
3) Arrange where you want to place your cut-outs and later paste them.
4) Make sure you have enough room for future cut-outs.
