How to take pictures
"Totally worth the effort."
How I did it: I realized you need to take a lot of pictures to get one or two good ones. So I click away all the time. It's important to develop the discipline to whip out the camera at the slightest provocation. Something may be worth photographing, or not. Often something that seems humdrum is a great shot. You never would have discovered it if you didn't just snap away.
Having a camera phone helps a lot too. You can't always remember to carry a camera with you; but most of us don't leave the house without our phone.
Lessons & tips: Always carry a camera, or a smartphone with a decent camera. If you take pictures all the time, people you know will stop noticing and accept it.
Resources: Smartphone and various digital cameras. The camera doesn't matter that much so long as you develop the discipline.
