How to go on a road trip
How I did it: Short roadtrips are easy to arrange! Four of us just decided one morning to go off in the car, the journey WAS the destination and all that! We started where we lived and intentionally went to places we didn't know, corners of the New Forest we hadn't visited before, beaches we had never seen. We were out most of the day, and it was one of the most memorable days of my time living near Bournemouth. We were lucky enough to have a great location for a one day trip - the area around New Milton, Brockenhurst, Sway, Lyndhurst, Beaulieu, the middle of the south coast of the UK, which was dark, dark forests, long coastal stretches, large towns, ancient villages...
The best way to see familiar places in a new light is to have no map or route in particular, then the real character of a place can come out - we discovered a village cricket match in the middle of the forest, stopping to watch for a few minutes was special.
Doing it in a day was great, but I'd love to road trip for a month!
