How to learn PHP

How I did it: Tried to teach myself from free information online, but none of it was coherent enough for it to really gel with me. So I ended up applying for an online diploma, and in our intro to programming class, we learned PHP. YAY!
Lessons & tips: Doing a full Web site project helped me combine multiple PHP scripts onto pages that needed broad functionality, whereas doing exercises out of the book was useful for basic learning but not for "real world" type experience.
