How I did it: I just remembered that I actually did this in 2007 for a few minutes at a beach house with an ex boyfriend but that wasn't such a big deal.
Anyway.
I spent a night and day at my bofyriend's friend's beach house in Gerroa, near Wollongong. I hadn't planned on swimming but it was actually quite fun and even though I am very concerned about impressing his friends, I managed to feel okay without makeup or upper arm covering. And that is a big deal.
I bought that cute playsuit sort of caper that I saw in the Good Weekend, in two sizes. I decided at the last minute (two minutes before leaving for the beach) and panicked that I chose the wrong one (the larger size) because my boobs were being.. unwieldy. But then I realised they'd do that in anything so at least my tummy looked alright. I bought shorts at the last minute that were too small but really quite cute (and plain enough to suit my taste). On the windy beach, he said I was so pretty!
We went for a long walk to a private pool and snuck in and were outshone by the excellent ten year old swimmers. Then we joined the rest of the people in our group, and jumped in the water even though Sean is not really an ocean person. It was nice to have that kid sensation of the sand moving underneath our feet, you know, where you thinked you've moved but it's just the sea around you? I dived under the waved and felt my body being knocked around. I can't really swim these days but I used to be such a 'waterbaby'.

We are maybe going on a mini-break soon because there's no reason we can't!

Lessons & tips: Cuddle.
Don't drink the water.
Use SPF 30+ (we both got a bit burned, what with being very pale and hermitty).
