How I did it: I was really hesitant about starting a personal finance blog but it's been something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'm not sure what came over me but one day I decided to just do it.

I made a blog through blogger, registered my domain with GoDaddy and started designing the bloody thing. It took A LOT of work but I made my first two posts today and I've already started receiving comments. Awesome!!

Lessons & tips: It's really important to know why you're blogging. Are you blogging to share entries with your families and friends? Or are you trying to reach a bigger readership and really enter the realm of the "blogosphere."

If you're writing for the public, write for the public. Unfortunately, the only person that's interested in the cute thing that your baby did today is, frankly, you. Scratch that. I have been blogging for a total of one day so far, what do I know? Haha.

But, I know that a lot of bloggers have an issue with burn out. They don't know what to write anymore. It's important to post regularly to keep your readership subscribed and checking your site regularly. For me, that meant writing 10 quality posts and saving them in Word before I even posted one. These posts will serve as my "blog reserve" that lets me continue posting regular material in case I ever run out of material or get writer's block.
