How to give Veganism Another Try.
How I did it: That's right, vegan wannabes, it's time to get cooking! The good news is there are so many fantastic vegan cookbooks these days that you'll never be short on fantastic, mouth-watering recipes that will rock your vegan socks off! Seriously!
For those who like it hot and spicy, I highly recommend "Vegan Fire and Spice" by Robin Robertson. There are still so many recipes in this book I haven't tried, but if you like complex flavors and enjoy sampling cuisine from different parts of the world, this book is for you!
I also recommend any cookbooks by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terri Hope Romero. Their Tofu Cashew Ricotta recipe from "Veganomicon" cured me of my cheese addiction. Make a lasagna with it, or stuff into shells, and I swear you will not be able to tell that it's not cheese. Or, if you're like me, you might actually prefer the vegan version! ;-)
With all this tantalizing food talk, I nearly forgot to address vegan nutrition. By now you've probably heard that vegans need to supplement their diets with Vitamin B-12, or be sure to consume products that are fortified with B-12 such as soymilk, cereals, tofu, etc. (be sure to read the labels!). However, if you're interested in a more comprehensive guide to vegan nutrition, I highly recommend "Becoming Vegan: The Complete Guide to Adopting a Healthy Plant-Based Diet" by Brenda Davis and Vesanto Melina. Excellent book!
Good luck, aspiring vegans! You can do it!
