congratulations

I am so glad I just read this entry of yours. I was moved after reading the other.

What i want to know more aobut if you have the time is can you just put in one paragraph or one sentence even, the essence of alan carr’s idea to show me whether i should go and buy the book.

I did strat reading it once. And will do it again if there is what i want to know.

I didn’t use a book to quite smoking but now i am trying to encourage other people to give up other addictions like bulimia and self-harming.

I myself am addicted to the net but have just managed to regroup because i found more commitment and motivation for my tohers things. But it took a rough night on my regular forum to make do it.

Thanks if you can find the time to send me a quick message.

summing it up

well it’s reverse psychology actually…..he tells you not to stop smoking through the whole book when your aim IS to stop smoking and you get aggravated because you want to stop and you want to know how but he doesn’t tell you how…by the end of the book you are dying to stop and you do like magic.. and other things that surround it I can only accredit to magic because I swear, I tried everything else, fighting fire with fire, doesn’t work, willpower doesn’t work, I think he works on your REBELLION!!! Therefore reverse psychology, he even says, after you read the book, you don’t have to quit if you don’t want to, he always gives you the choice which you already know you want to quit or you wouldn’t have picked up the book, so he sort of makes you look stupid too.. I don’t know, it’s weird…it works..

summing it up using it for other things

I am actually re-reading the book to quit marijuana, as I read the book I write in a journal how it applies to marijuana, like for example the lies I have fed into like, marijuana is not addicting, it’s used as a prescription, another example the shame you feel, feed into that shame! Why do you feel shame. I think mostly what made me think is this…OTHER PEOPLE ARE LIVING PERFECTLY FINE AND DON’T NEED THIS OR THAT TO RELAX OR DEAL WITH ISSUES THEY DEAL WITH IT WITHOUT A CRUTCH

Thanks for replying. I really was not expecting that answer. That is pretty clever. I can see how it works.

For me what i did was use will power but without the pressure. I have tried that once and failed. The last time, i said to myself at hte beginning of the year, one day this year, and probably even the next time i get sick because i could never smoke when i had a cold as i always got such bad pharygitis/laryngitis. Smoking made my chest feel like it was full of knives. I went to bed for two days and when i got up i had no cravings. There was more to it than that but that got me over the hard part.

I hope it works for your efforts to give up dope too. Maybe you could suggest he write one for that. With my quit cigs. I had replacements thigns but healthy ones. I took up fitness and a good diet. I had a friend who quit smoking so she could complete her formal studies – the two don’t mix. But unfortunatley she went back to it after she graduated.

I saw in the book shop he has written one for overeating i think.

And don’t forget, just in case you get caught out sometime, YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ANOTHER CIGARETTE AGAIN. Cause that is the beginning of the end. You can not afford to have one cigarette or even one puff, if you want to stop for the rest of your life.

Best wishes.
