How to move to a better apartment
How I did it: I made a list of the things I wanted in an apartment and the things I didn't like about the place that I was currently living in. I calculated what my budged was for a new place and did some browsing online to give me an idea of the rates in different neighborhoods. I familiarized myself with the names of the areas that best suited me and met with a locator to discuss my needs.
Lessons & tips: Realize that "home" needs to be just that. Don't settle for a place that does not allow you to express yourself. If you're in an area where you don't feel comfortable or feel like you don't fit in, if you're not allowed to paint your apartment or put plants or chairs out, or if you live so far away from the activities that you enjoy that you find yourself not doing anything, it's time to make some changes!
