How to be a Salvation Army bell ringer
"Bell ringing was freezing, but heart-warming!"
How I did it: I had a great time volunteering as a Bell Ringer for my local Salvation Army! I volunteered weekly, donning what felt like all the clothes I owned (it's cold at Christmas time in Chicago!) to stand outside a Jewel-Osco for two hours. I found it fascinating to observe people (especially what they were buying!), and it really brightened my day to wish people a good evening and a Merry Christmas!
Lessons & tips: Contact your local Salvation Army! Likely they pay people to ring, but if you're willing to volunteer, they'll definitely take you!
