How to get CPR/First Aid certified
"Spent a day in a room full of people blowing into old CPR dummies that tweeted and tooted. After CPR, we pretended to be burned or wounded, and wrapped one another in bandages. It was fun."
How I did it: Signed up at the American Red Cross website. Paid $60. Showed up at the Red Cross building on a Saturday morning. Paid attention to the instructor.
If I'm ever in an emergency situation where the life of my husband or daughter are at stake, this training will enable me to focus on doing something to save him/her rather than freaking out.
Same with a sranger in need of help. As a bonus, the certification provides some legal protection in the state of Oklahoma.
Lessons & tips: Just listen. Pay attention to the differences between adult and infant CPR.
