How to read different genres
It made me 
"Opened my eyes to new genres which I actually love! "
How I did it: I just tried a few different books that I wouldn't normally have looked at. Usually based on best seller lists or friends recommendations.
Ended up over the course of a year going from 90$ Chick Lit to trying biographies, classics, thrillers, mystery, fantasy / sci fi... and still a few Chick Lit in there too.
Lessons & tips: I'm normally buy my books rather than use the libraries or friends, but borrowing books was a great way of "testing the waters" with stuff I wasn't sure I was going to like
